Therapy Dogs Incorporated was founded in 1990 by Jack and Ann Butrick of Cheyenne, Wyoming and since then
has grown into an organization of more than four thousand members in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories.
The goal of Therapy Dogs Incorporated is to provide registration and support for members who are involved
in animal assisted activities.
Lake County Kennel Club set up a Therapy Dog Program after hearing a presentation by Linda Wendorff.
A test day was sponsored and initially nine dogs were tested and approved by Therapy Dogs Incorporated.
Visits were set up at Meadowood Healthcare Facility and adding Pacific Regency, now known as Evergreen Healthcare
of Lakeport, and Lakeport Skilled Nursing. More recently Sutter Lakeside Hospital was added.
Over the years dogs have come and gone but Lake County Kennel Club Therapy Dogs continue to provide love,
joy, and pleasure to the residents of the nursing facilities and Sutter Lakeside Hospital.
